Why do we fall so we can rise again.

Why do we fall? So, we can rise again and again.

Why do we fall? We ask this questions ourselves at different times. We consider falls as mistakes and failures. This attitude towards falls of life brings pain and sorrow to us. We always chase perfection knowing that nothing is really perfect in this world.

Life has ups and downs. Life is an adventure. Life will be boring if it becomes smooth. We all have heard it before and we know that there will be some falls, some mistakes, and some failures, but do we welcome them? I guess, no. Even though, we know these problems make us who we are, we try to avoid them. Why?

I believe it is because we do not really understand the importance of falls in our life.

I want to write about falls today because I believe it is one of the keys which unlock the door to a fulfilled life. Your true happiness is in fulfillment.

Winston Churchill repeated a grade during elementary school and, when he entered Harrow, was placed in the lowest division of the lowest class. Later, he twice failed the entrance exam to the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. He was defeated in his first effort to serve in Parliament. He became Prime Minister at the age of 62. He later wrote, “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never, Never, Never, Never give up.”

The fulfillment comes from within. More self-confidence, self-esteem, self-love you have, more you feel fulfilled. Your family, your friends, your relations are the base of fulfilment. And Success is the result of fulfilment.

With this article, my intention is to change your attitude towards falls. I urge to read and understand it so you and I treat fall as it meant to be, not as we usually do as failures.

To understand why do we fall, we must first understand how we define fall. I believe fall is not mistakes or failure, but it is the result of mistakes and failures. It is the learning from mistakes and failures. It is the learning from an experiment. It is also the result of the learning from taking the risks.

The history has enough evidence that every person, who you consider ideal or successful, has been through fall, a lot.

Thomas Edison’s teachers said he was “too stupid to learn anything.” He was fired from his first two jobs for being “non-productive.” As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, “How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?” Edison replied, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.”

Do you think it was easy for Gandhi and Mandela to stand for their people? Do you think it was an easy road to success for Steve Jobs and Richard Branson? Do you believe it was a one-shot invention by Einstein?

In their own word, they all were the results of their failures.

You and I must change the way we look at the falls. Falls are there to teach us, to mold us and to guide us. Fall is the way to success. It is the process of achievement. It is the definition of our struggles. And it is the value of our character.

Henry Ford failed and went broke five times before he succeeded.

Failure is a state of mind. It is a failure only when you accept it as a failure. Until you accept it, it will always be learning.

We are not here to take part in a race. The true purpose of life is to live and to contribute. How well we live and how well we contribute will only depend on how well we fail.

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. That is why I succeed.”

– Michael Jordan

There is nothing to fear about failures. If you really want to fear than fear mediocrity, fear average life, fear the limitation you put on yourself because you are afraid of failures.

That’s what your true fear should be about.

Take a moment and think. What can you do if you accept failure as learning? You know the answer is ANYTHING.

So, ask yourself again. Why do we fall?

We fall so we can rise again. We can rise above our fears and our standard. And most importantly, we fall so we can rise to reach the greatness within us.

To your Rise.
